Montgomery Place

Architectural and Interior design photography of a Brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn, published in Marie Claire Maison Magazine.

Located in Brooklyn’s Montgomery Place, this 19th-century brownstone was photographed for Marie Claire Maison and reimagined as a luminous family home blending historic architecture with contemporary design. From the street, the façade remains discreet, revealing little of the dramatic transformation inside.

At the heart of the house, a sculptural spiral staircase draws the eye upward, flooding the interior with natural light. The renovation, led by David Howell Design, opened the main living spaces to enhance circulation and emphasize the home’s verticality, while preserving its original character.

The interiors reflect the owners’ passion for Italian design, combining vintage furniture, rich materials, and metallic accents. Shades of gray, gold, and deep plum create a sophisticated palette, softened by tactile elements such as velvet, silk rugs, onyx, bronze, and palisander wood.

Photographed as an editorial interior project in New York, Montgomery Place captures a refined yet eclectic vision of Brooklyn living — where architectural heritage meets expressive, contemporary design.
